Tom Campbell

Tom Campbell served as SGA President from 1982-83 and currently works as a trial lawyer throughout the country. He runs a ten-lawyer firm that represents property owners with claims against termite companies. After college, Campbell completed a corporate banking training program with a national bank and then worked as a Legislative Assistant to US Senator Howell T. Heflin (D., Al.) in Washington, D.C.

Campbell returned to the University of Alabama and graduated law school. In Law School he served as the first Chief Judge of the Student Appeals Court and wrote its rules. After law school, Campbell worked for and became a partner in a large Birmingham law firm before leaving as a founder of the Birmingham Office of a national labor and employment law firm. He then founded and ran a law firm that handled class action and mass action cases for consumers.

Campbell served as President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar Association, a member of the Executive Committee, Bar Association Disciplinary Committee and many other roles. He also has served as a member of the Birmingham Zoo Board and in leadership roles in other civic service roles, including counseling professionals with substance abuse or mental health issues to assist them with recovery.

Campbell has a son in the UA Class of 2028.
