Anthony “A.J” James, MD is an emergency medicine physician and adjunct assistant professor in Huntsville, AL. He is a member of the Blackburn Institute class of 2014. While at The University of Alabama he worked to decrease the University’s use of sweatshop labor for licensed apparel and helped lead the We Are Done movement, leading to the creation of the campus’s first Intercultural Diversity Center.
Following his undergraduate years, A.J. ventured to Cleveland, Ohio, to pursue a medical degree at Case Western Reserve University. Rooted in the principles of ethical leadership, he engaged in projects aimed at addressing healthcare disparities and promoting diversity in medicine. A.J. has published research at Massachusetts General Hospital aimed at interrogating barriers to HIV testing in underserved communities.
A.J. completed emergency medicine residency in Charlotte, North Carolina in June 2023. His journey, marked by resilience and dedication, fuels his passion for advocating for positive change in healthcare.
