In Fall 2025, Blackburn students visited Greene, Choctaw, and Washington counties on a 4-day Burt Jones Rural Community Experience. Please use the itinerary below as an example of the range of activities that students engage in during this trip.

2:45 p.m. Session 6 – Georgia-Pacific Mill, Pennington Mill Tour

5:30 p.m. Session 7 – Arts & Entertainment, Dinner Theater with the Choctaw County Arts Council, Youth Division

Friday, October 31

9 a.m. Session 8 – PowerSouth Energy Cooperative at the Lowman Energy Center

2:45 p.m. Session 9 – Healthcare in Washington County at the Washington County Hospital and Nursing Home

9 a.m. Session 11 – Alabama Territorial Capitol History at St. Stephens Historical Park
