2026-27 Student Communications Director

The Student Communications Director:

  • Internally publicizes all Institute activities and personal achievements of Blackburn Students and Blackburn Fellows (via Facebook, email, telephone, etc.).
  • Provides appropriate external individuals, departments, and media with relevant information regarding Institute activities and events (i.e. press releases, event descriptions, post-event summaries, etc.).
  • Coordinates the gathering of information for the website and publications.

Lana Grace Fields is a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Public Policy and Social Innovation and Leadership. On campus, she serves as the Policy Coordinator for The University of Alabama’s Chapter of Vote Everywhere and is involved in Dr. Robert E. Witt University Fellows Program, the Shelby Institute for Policy and Leadership, and the Student Government Association. Lana Grace is particularly interested in environmental policy, civic education, and social justice issues. She has spent time working as a policy intern for the Tennessee RiverLine, a non-profit focused on environmental and economic development along the Tennessee River. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends, pursuing various artistic ventures, and seeing live music.
