The Student Chairperson:
- Acts as the official student spokesperson for the institute.
- Provides general leadership and presides over all Student meetings.
- Serves as the liaison between Students, the Leadership Team, and the Advisory Board.
- Together with the Vice-Chairperson, organizes informal gatherings that promote dialogue and community among Students.
Woods Hobbs

Woods Hobbs is a junior from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, double majoring in Political Science and Legal History while pursuing his Accelerated Master of Public Administration.
On campus, he serves as an Associate Justice on the Student Government Association Judicial Board and is involved in the Honors College and the Shelby Institute for Policy and Leadership. Woods has spent time in Washington, D.C., working in federal policy and is particularly interested in foreign affairs, incarceration and critical minerals. He enjoys following global developments and studying the strategic challenges facing the United States. He loves supporting the Crimson Tide from the Blackburn block on game days. Outside of school extracurriculars, he enjoys soccer, reading, following global events and spending time with friends.
